Static caravan

Andy and I spent Sunday looking at static caravans in Argyll.

We looked at two sites; one was heavily populated and had all facilities, a pool, an ice skating rink, gym etc. To be honest, this is not our bag at all and we ran from this one screaming!
The other was a more remote and wild. The view over Loch Fyne sold it to us and although we haven't made our final decision on it yet, I think we are both pretty much set on the purchase.

We have decided to rent our house in Dunblane out as well, so that we can be closer to my mum in Glasgow. This move is really bourne out of practical reasons and though I am sad at the prospect of leaving Dunblane, it is a measure that will relieve a lot of stress for us. It will also mean that we are closer to our holiday home on Loch Fyne!

I have now sourced all my maternity cover at the Yoga Room and am very relieved to have found some amazing teachers to fill my shoes - more information to follow very soon.

I have also set up some workshops with a couple of amazing teachers over the summer : Luke Jordan and also the return of Edward Clark from Tripsichore yoga http://www.tripsichore.com/id1.html

More to follow on all this!
Love to you all,

We had another wee glimpse of our baby yesterday at our 2nd scan.
For anyone that doesn't know, I am now 21 weeks pregnant!

It was amazing to see him/her swallowing, sticking his/her tongue out and kicking his/her legs rapidly. Funny, because I haven't felt any kicks at all and she/he was very active. I was told that the stronger your abdominals are, the less likely you are to feel any activity. Seems all the Ashtanga has created abs of steel that have built a strong wall for baby to kick against.

As you can see, baby is lying on his/her side, so it is hard to see much. It was, however an amazing experience and was beautiful to check in and to see that everything is well so far. We have decided not to see the sex of baby and this decision was confirmed by baby, as he/she didn't want us to see anyway!

I have returned to doing some practice which has been wonderful. I have slowed everything down and am practicing in a very remedial fashion. It is a lovely way to connect with baby and to keep my body moving. My energy is good at the moment, so I hope to keep going with practice for a long while yet.

There are exciting times ahead for Andy and myself and I have now firmed up most of my maternity cover. I will let you know the latestt when all is confirmed.

A very merry Xmas!

I have had a very relaxed 3 weeks off, but am looking forward to getting a sense of routine back into my life.

The weather may have been totally miserable, but we have had a very happy festive period in the Loaning surrounded by family and our kitties.

I am excited to be going back to my classes, but also slightly apprehensive about resuming the Dunblane to Edinburgh commute. The winds have been so wild lately and the trains have randomly been cancelled. I just hope things settle down by next week.

We are heading North for the weekend. We have booked a wee hotel in Aviemore and I am looking forward to some long walks and a wee break from cooking!

I look forward to welcoming you all next week!

A wonderful winter weekend

Andy and I spent the weekend in the wilderness that is Carrour. This one-house community is surrounded by the most fantastic scenery and I was utterly over-awed by it all.

There is one train per day and no mobile phone reception. It is the perfect location to retreat and to get away from it all.

We met up with Andy's brother for a traditional Xmas dinner on the Saturday and then went for a very long and cold walk in thick snow.

We left on Sunday with a cosy glow about us: the hospitality at the Hotel really is second to none. For anyone looking for a retreat from the pre-Xmas madness, I strongly recommend a weekend in Carrour. Just make sure that you check the weather forecast before departure - if the weather is bad, you may find you are stuck there for some time!

Wishing everyone a nice, relaxed festive period!

Wild weather

Terrible weather all over Scotland - particularly in the central belt. Apparently parts of Scotland have encountered winds of 150 mph!

All trains to Edinburgh from Dunblane were seriously disrupted. Thankfully, I managed to get a cover teacher for my led class in the form of Stacey Metcalf. It was her first class for the Yoga Room and she did a fantastic job - a huge thank you to her.

I spent the day baking a Christmas cake. This was a huge event in itself - I had no idea it was so involved! After an hour of stirring and beating, I left the batter on the counter in the kitchen. I turned my back for 5 minutes only to discover my naughty little kitten Simbha trying to get his tongue in about it!

Thankfully, the cake was saved and is currently in the oven on a slow bake. I am excitedly anticipating the result - only 5 hours to go!

Hopefully the winds will have settled by tomorrow. I will get cover if I don't make it through. Watch for updates on my facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Yoga-Room/194036207314364

Another busy weekend

Happy 60th Birthday mum!

I made cupcakes in the shape of a 60 and my little sis created a DVD of her life. My mum was pleased as punch! What a joyous event. It was so lovely to see my my extended family and after so much planning and hard work,we were happy her party went off without a hitch.

It was a busy weekend for us as Andy and I cycled 16 miles on Saturday and went to a gig on Sunday night!

I was grateful to have the night off on Monday and very happy that the wonderful Jo was able to cover my classes for me. It is so lovely to have so many amazing teachers that I can trust to run my classes. Thank you Jo, Yvonne and Gillian!

Another wonderful retreat!

Another wonderful weekend at Stronachlacher!

I am still glowing and would just like to thank everyone for coming along and making it so special.

The food was extra delicious - thank you Layla! Cath worked hard at her treatments with great result! Everyone glided out on Sunday afternoon...

I have to say I was somewhat reluctant to leave and Andy and I stayed on for an extra night luxuriating in the comfort of the 8 bedroom retreat house!

We were very lucky with the weather and for the 1st time the sun shone for the entire weekend. Monday was dense fog, so as we hit the road we weren't so sad to be heading for our cosy cottage.

I have already booked the next retreat weekend. The 24/25/26th March is all confirmed. Book now!
